MBBG had a BIG day on 10-10-10 (October 10, 2010!) We partnered with the City of Manhattan Beach to host a day of environmental education. Included was an Eco-fair where the weekly Farmer's Market takes place with over thirty informational booths on topics including solar energy, living Christmas trees and Ca native plants. A summit took place over at city hall with expert speakers such as drought-tolerant landscape consultant and writer Bob Perry. In addition, MBBG created its first drought-tolerant satellite demonstration garden at the entrance to MB City Hall. It was designed by MBBG board member Mimi Andersen and installed by MBBG board member Mike Garcia of Enviroscape. The Ecology Club from Mira Costa High School helped throughout the day. We want to thank Sona Kalapura, the city's Environmental Programs manager, and all the MBBG and other volunteers for making the day such a success!
